Sarah's Bio:

Who am I?

I am a mom with two daughters that have fallen in love with Ringette, and each year I look forward to the community we have all created in the stands at the rink! It is my hope that over the next year, RDR will attract more families to our sport, keep our teens playing the game longer, and maintain our competitive edge throughout Alberta. 

When not in the rink, I have a passion for sport that I have incorporated into my every-day.  I have a diploma in Recreation and Leisure Management and a degree majoring in Sport Administration, and have partnered it with over 25 years of experience working in community with sport groups, hosting events, as well as building and operating recreation facilities.  Having most recently served on the Board of Directors for the 2019 Canada Winter Games, and concurrently acted as a Team Manager, Parent-Coach Liaison, and Friends on Ice team rep with various teams within the Red Deer Ringette Association for almost 10 years, I am confident my experiences will help lead Red Deer Ringette’s governance processes and operations.  My sport experiences also include Mission Staff for Provincial Winter and Summer Games, Board of Directors for various KidSport associations and Regional Sport and Tourism Associations/Boards across Manitoba, British Columbia and Alberta.  It was a career highlight to be part of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay and 2010LegaciesNow community organizing committees ahead of the Olympic Games in Vancouver.  I am looking forward to dedicating my work and volunteer experiences into the new role as President for the organization. 

I bring experienced professionalism to Board governance, and will work with the team currently on the Board to help encourage everyone to get more involved in Red Deer Ringette.  I believe we all have talents and expertise to share.  While we chase our kids to rinks across Alberta this winter, I hope you will consider taking an active volunteer role in RDR to help our athletes and coaches have the best experiences along the way.
